DR. WINE'S STORY
In 2008, I had a gentleman visit one of my health centers which in addition to the Oxygen and detox therapies, I was also selling my own the living supplements. He asked to have a meeting with me and in that meeting he proclaimed to be a fanatic on health and supplements and claimed to be one of the largest sellers of vitamins on TV. It turned out to be true, he owned the largest infomercial company in the US at that time.
He said he had been taking my supplements (I only had four formulas at the time) and felt incredible, saying that he had never taken anything like them. He wanted to know why they were so much better than anything he had taken previously. I told him they were live ionized supplements and gave him my explanation along with all of my research and resources, after which he told me he would love to sell them on his infomercials.
Our next meeting was held at his office. His operation was very impressive to say the least and after discussing how his system worked and more about my supplements, we agreed that we should pursue the venture together.
We agreed to start with my detox/weight loss formula set at $99 a bottle. They asked me to put together the price of the supplement to be delivered to their warehouse ready to be sold which needed to include my profit.
At that time, my cost per bottle was $16.79 not including shipping, warehousing and bank fees. I was thrilled to be able to get the cost down to a final $13.50 a bottle which included a $2 profit for myself.
Fast forward to a few days later and what I thought was going to be a great and final meeting. I told them that the price was at a staggering low price of $13.50 delivered. They were outraged that the price was so high and that the maximum price delivered to them had to be below $4.89.
I was stunned and proceeded to tell them why that was impossible. They went through the costs they would occur with television costs, video production, call center fees, warehousing costs, shipping, accounting, etc. and finally explained to me that in order for them to sell a product for $99 they need to have it for under $4.59.
The cost of the bottle, cap, label, and seal alone is $.75. Add in shipping at $.50 and maybe a dollar profit for me and my costs, that leaves about $2.34 for the actual ingredients in the bottle and the manufacturing of those ingredients.
Needless to say, that venture ended with all of us scratching our heads.
Over the next few months, I went to all of the top retail outlets that sell supplements and found out that they had similar demands. Even though they sell for less than the infomercial companies, the margins are the same. What sells in a retail store for $35 was originally made, bottled, labeled, sealed and delivered for under $5.
Wholly Liquid™ can make the same formula and sell it for the same $35 but instead of $5 to manufacturer, it would cost us between $20 and $25 for the superb quality of a living ionized liquid formula. After costs, we can make a dollar or two in profit but at least we know that we gave the customer what they paid for.
The moral of this story is that dead supplements in pill and capsule form are not worth the bottle they are in. You cannot sell a great living supplement for cheap.
